How to Minimize Murphy’s Law
It's Sunday night at 8pm. Our daughter has been feeling poorly all day, and we decide to take her to the Emergency at the Sturgeon General. She's blacking out while sitting down. She needs to see the pediatric cardiac specialist at the U of A.
We now have appointments and follow ups scheduled in the next weeks, (along with the worry and stress of knowing your child isn't well).
We are going away to Pittsburgh for a coaching session.
Our son has a climbing competition in Vancouver.
We are in an EXTREMELY busy season at the office.....you get the idea.
Not planned.
Who plans a health emergency? Huge challenge Have you noticed that life is like that? Lots of unplanned things happen.
Murphy became famous.
Murphy’s Law originated at the same place where Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier in 1947, Edwards Air Force Base in southern California. Reliability engineer, Captain Edward A. Murphy, Jr., delivered new gauges for the test equipment… and they malfunctioned. Blaming the problem on underlings, Murphy groused, “If there’s any way they can do it wrong, they will.”
It’s important to anticipate Murphy’s Law in the key areas of your life.
My best tool is the Razor plan. We use it BEFORE every major life event or change. In it’s simplest form, it is having everyone who is involved answer two questions:
What outcome would give you peace of mind financially?
What would FAA – Frustrate, Aggravate or Annoy you? and how can we bulletproof your financial plan to withstand any sudden emergencies.
It’s the best tool to anticipate and minimize Murphy’s Law.
